Today I have decided that it is time I got myself some colouring pens, the question is which ones, there are so many different ones on the market at the moment, I really don't know which ones to choose. Should it be Whispers, Spectrum Noir, Promarkers or others I haven't even heard of. So I thought the best thing to do is to ask all you lovely crafters who read this to give me your opinion on the ones you use, if you would, and that will help me make up my mind. I want to be able to blend colours almost seemlessly without any pen strokes visible if that is at all possible and also to be able to shade the colours so that it looks natural and not obviously pen coloured. Now I know alot of what I want to do will depend on my colouring talent (which may be in doubt) but the theory is that if I start with the best I can get then my amature efforts won't look so bad. Tell me what you think please, it will help alot.

I use promarkers - but I have just started buying the fine nibs as there is an issue with how fine they can go! I haven't used the other pens so I'm sorry but I can't compare - now I have my fine nibs though I'm very happy!!! xx

DeleteHi Linda, l like my copics but l don't have many promarkers practice is the key and having a selection of shades as you need at least 3 shades close together to be able to shade blend you may want prisma pencils or similar to add more depth and shading too x Susan x

Deletei am a promarker/flexmarker girl too.i love to use a lot of colours in my colouring.its all about the layering with promakers.i think their is a lot more colours in the copics but i have never tried them.spectrum noirs have had very mixed reviews and i believe they are a very juicy pen, again i`ve not tried them.
ReplyDeletemaybe see if you can visit a craft shop that sells them and try holiding them in your hand to see which feels best in your hand.good luck with making a decision.

ReplyDeleteLinda I use Promarkers and flex markers, and like Rachel I have improved my colouring by buying the fine nibs which attach to the pen. I have to say, as I have been looking at other crafters cards who use Copics for their colours the colour seems much brighter and fresher. But promarkers have some lovely shades and some softer ones in the flexi markers.
ReplyDeleteAlso when you invest in any pen you must invest in the right paper to use with them, and also the right ink to stamp with them. I use momento ink with my promarkers,this means that the promarker pens don't muddy the inked image. I can also use my promarkers with printed images from my computer , but I have to use Neenah solar white card to print ( or other cards specially for Promarker pens ) and I let the ink dry for a while before colouring in, so that the promarkers dont muddy the ink. Its a mindfield I know !!. I have almost a whole set of promarkers but have looked at the copics and now want those as well . Hugs Elaine
